Autumn Inspiration

When I was younger I was fascinated by the world of interior design. I would watch a lot of interior design shows and when I was 15 I convinced my parents to allow me to design my own bedroom. I loved how the smallest little details could transform a room and I liked the idea of injecting your personality into a room to make it feel like your own or a place everyone could associate with you. When my husband and I moved in together, we really struggled to add our own personality to own rented house. We're not allowed to add many holes in the walls (despite us both loving paintings), we are unable to paint the rooms or change the carpets so we had to work around what we had, which made things a bit mismatched and not very good for someone as OCD as myself about design. When we moved in together I was also a student and it was the first time both of us had properly lived in an unfurnished house. We had very little money and relied for the first few months on donated furniture and the odd bits we could scrape together with the money we saved up. Fast forward a year and a half and we're still living in our rented little house, but both of us have a lot more money to play around with and we are determined to replace some of our older bits and pieces and make things a little bit more cosy.

Recently I've putting together a mood board of things I would like to make our house feel a bit more autumnal. Above are a few of my favourite item from around the web. Primark has some lovely furnishings at the moment and most of the items on my current wish list are from here. For this particular mood board I've chosen this lovely fluffy pillow and the Deer pillow and the wanderlust bedding as I would love inject a bit of travel inspiration around the house. I'm also loving The Range recently and struggle to drag myself out of there on a weekend. My current faves are this cute rabbit pillow, the world map alarm clock and the bamboo tree - my parents used to have a really large tree in the corner of their living room and I always thought it added character to the space. As my husband and I are obsessed with rabbits, I have also chosen this beautiful rabbit ornament from House of Fraser for my wish list.

A lot of my interior inspiration comes from a website called Homify. It's like Pinterest made specifically for interior design and you can create your own mood boards for your future home as well as browse the site for products and even source tradesmen for your jobs. Of course living in rented accommodation means we're nowhere near that stage yet, but we are saving up for a house of our own and our imagination has been running away with this. I'm already dreaming of quirky feature walls like this one above, combined with classic antique furniture. For now, I'll just have to stick with making my millions of mood boards and hope that one day I can make them a reality.

What is on your interiors wish list?

Welcome to my My Glam Vacations

Welcome to my new blog 'My Glam Vacations'. Travel has always been something I have loved. From a young age I was whisked off along the British coastline and as I've grown older I've had a passion to see the wider world. Travel blogging was something I stumbled across almost accidentally with my other blog 'Forever Miss Vanity'. One day I was writing about fashion then I was invited to Thailand to blog about fashion and then I fell in love with travelling. I knew from that moment that travel blogging was a route I really wanted to go down and today is my first step towards running a proper travel blog. I hope you join me on my new journey and enjoy all my adventures.
